‘Titanic Pizza Event’ at Center Theatre March 16

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre is closed for three weeks for renovations. However, you can come see the progress, watch a great movie and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime event at the Center Theatre if you attend one of the two showings of the “Titanic Pizza Event” scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director, said the event was inspired by the Theatre’s sloping auditorium floor, “We knew we would have a free Saturday to do something in the auditorium with all the seats removed. We thought about having a dinner, but with the slanted floor all the tables would be at an angle. Not terribly convenient for a dinner party, but pretty appropriate to watch ‘Titanic.’”

EMPTY THEATRE — The Center Theatre auditorium with all the seats removed will be the venue for a “Titanic Pizza Event” on Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Customers will sit at slanted tables to enjoy “Titanic” and can order food from Pat’s Pizza that will be delivered to their table.

To make the event even more fun, customers will be able to order food from Pat’s Pizza at the Theatre concession counter and Theatre volunteers will pick it up and deliver it right to their table. For the evening show, Center Coffee House will also be open offering a cash bar. Tickets for the event are only $5 and seating will be limited so advance tickets are recommended.

When customers arrive for the event, they will get to see the new carpeting in the Theatre lobby that will have been recently installed by Dave’s World. The carpeting is part of the work that will keep the Theater closed for the better part of three weeks. Besides the new carpeting, the Theatre is refinishing the auditorium floor and installing new (to them) seats. The seats were donated to the Theatre by Epstein Commercial Properties after they upgraded seating in the Bangor Mall Cinemas. The rest of the project was funded by a grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King foundation.

On Thursday, March 21 the Center Theatre will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. so the community can come by to see the finished renovations and enjoy light snacks. For more information on any activities at the Center Theatre please call the Theatre at 564-8943, visit www.CenterTheatre.org or stop in at the box office at 20 East Main Street from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. weekdays. The Center Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with a mission to make arts, culture, education and entertainment accessible to our rural communities.
