Hesseltine continues this season’s 100 career victory run for Dexter wrestling
DEXTER — Following several Dexter Regional High School wrestling teammates who earned their 100th wins this season, Tiger senior Isaiah Hesseltine stepped on the mat on Jan. 2 with 97 career victories. His hope, to start 2019 with 100 career wins and keep the Dexter Regional High School wrestling tradition alive.
In Guiski Gymnasium Dexter hosted Bucksport, Ellsworth, Foxcroft Academy, Mattanawcook Academy, Piscataquis Community High School, and Mount Desert High School. The Tigers faced MDI, PCHS, and Bucksport.

Hesseltine entered the night needing three wins to reach the milestone, and he got victory No. 100 in his home gym. Hesseltine went onto the mat for the first match of the evening with 97 wins; Hesseltine took a forfeit for win No. 98 against MDI. In the second round, Hesseltine faced Jacob Nadeau of PCHS. After an excellent match, Hesseltine was able to get the pin for win No. 99.
In his third round, Hesseltine stepped on the mat and faced Bucksport’s Elizabeth Bernier. Bernier wrestled hard, but Hesseltine got the pin at the 1:28-mark. Hesseltine was congratulated by his team, fans, and his family including his brother Jacob Hesseltine a Tiger alum who earned his 100th career win in Ellsworth in 2017.
Hesseltine has sworn into the United States Army with the intentions of becoming a field medic and he will begin basic training July 2, 2019. His family wishes Hesseltine and the Dexter Regional High School wrestlers all the best this season and in the future.
