Adkins will help move Piscataquis County into the 21st century

To the Editor;
Tyler Adkins, a former student of mine, is a young man who grew up in Monson, attended Foxcroft Academy, left the state to attend college, and become an entrepreneur in alternative energy. He has returned because he values Piscataquis County and the way of life it could represent. But he recognizes the drawbacks: we have poor cell phone coverage in our area, which is a huge drawback for commerce; we have limited high speed broadband, so how can we entice entrepreneurs to the area; we have the oldest population in the country, so what is the attraction for young people. These are real issues that he is ready to tackle and address.

We need young blood, young people ready to make a home in Central Maine, and young people aware of the issues and articulate enough to make a difference. For years I have watched our young people leave Piscataquis County, not because they wanted to leave, but because the opportunities for them were not here. Here is a young man willing to effect change so that there are more opportunities for our young people to live and work here.

I have watched Tyler grow up in Monson, and I hope to watch him take his seat in Augusta to help move Piscataquis County into the 21st century. Please look at what he stands for and consider a vote for Tyler Adkins this November.
