State Senate candidate Mackey Andrews corrects the record on 2nd Amendment

To the Editor;
Dear neighbors, over the past couple of weeks, an OpEd published in the Piscataquis Observer and a letter to the editor have been published in both the Eastern Gazette and the Piscataquis Observer which misrepresents my position on the 2nd Amendment.

I’d like to correct the record and assure every voter in Senate District 4 that I support ALL of the 26 Amendments to our Constitution, including the 2nd Amendment, our right to keep and bear arms. I have no interest in taking anyone else’s guns; we have our own. If you know me, you know that this is true.

What I do advocate is that new gun owners have safety training, and that all gun owners keep their guns and ammunition separate and away from children, ideally locked in a cabinet. If you know me, you know that this is true.

I want to thank those residents of Senate District 4 who have personally called me to talk about these publications, and for their time while we talked through the facts. I sincerely urge others to give me a call or sent me an email if you have questions or concerns about my positions.

So, please — give me a call (408-8040) or send an email (Sue4Senate2018@gmail.com) if you want to chat. I will get right back to you and I will be honest with you. If you know me, you know that this is true.

Sue Mackey Andrews
