Free harvest potluck Oct. 5 at The Commons at Central Hall

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Friday, Oct. 5 Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) will be hosting a free public harvest potluck supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the newly refurbished The Commons at Central Hall (152 East Main Street). Everyone who likes to break bread with others is invited.

Attendees are encouraged to bring dishes to share made from their locally produced foods, anything from appetizers to desserts, to celebrate our area’s wide and deep agricultural community. It’ll be a true potluck, as no one is organizing who brings what, so everyone might have all desserts or salads. Please label the ingredients in each dish so that people with food allergies or other problems can make clear choices.

The Common’s wonderful new kitchen facilities can provide some final preparation for a contribution if necessary; come by 5 p.m. to use the ovens or to plug in a crock pot. Set up and clean up help will be gratefully accepted, and is actually part of the fun of community.

And as a bonus, the Commons is hosting an open mic at 7 p.m., so stick around after eating local food to watch local talent (more on that event can be found at http://www.centralhallcommons.org/copy-of-calendar ).

DDATT’s mission is to help move local communities into higher levels of self-control and independence, with reliable food production being a keystone. The more we share what we know, the stronger will be our community.
