Soil and water conservation district honors Conover Bennett as Outstanding Educator of the Year

SANGERVILLE — On Sept. 7 the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) honored Alexandra Conover Bennett by presenting her with the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award at the East Sangerville Grange Farm-To-Table Suppah for her exceptional work over the years in natural resource ecology and education.

The wonderful evening was serenaded by the band Timberdoodle, which consisted of two board members from the PCSWCD, the gorgeous meal was locally sourced from surrounding farms and volunteers of the East Sangerville Grange created the delicious menu that was served for the sold-out evening. As guests finished their entrees, Executive Director Sarah Robinson honored Conover Bennett for her impressive background and recent work as an adjunct faculty for College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, teaching students “Traditional Outdoor Skills” in Piscataquis County.

Rep. Paul Stearns, R-Guilford and Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville provided Conover Bennett with sentiments to mark the occasion. The night was beautiful as she was celebrated by colleagues, friends, family and neighbors. Congratulations once again go to Conover Bennett for such a well-deserved honor.
