Grand finale of Central Maine Talent Search Sept. 15 at Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre will be hosting the grand finale of its Central Maine Talent Search program at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15. The fourth event in the series will bring the two winners from each of the previous three events together to compete for $500 and other prizes.
Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director, said that he’s looking forward to the event, “The first three preliminaries were very entertaining. It’s always great to see the wildly talented people in our communities. So to be able to see and hear the best performers all together in one night is going to be amazing.”
Myers said the performers that evening will be Parker Kelley, dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean”; Elora Kares singing the “Diva Song” from 5th Element; Connor Plante, who won with a ballet routine at the second preliminary; Lydia Gilman, a singer from the Bangor area; and the winners from the third preliminary Hannah Poland, a singer and senior at Foxcroft Academy and Harold Badger, who played guitar and sung an original work entitled “Easy.”
As with the previous preliminary event, there will be a panel of three judges who will score each competitor on talent and ability, creativity, originality and showmanship. The audience also gets to vote for their favorite to help pick the winner. Myers said that considering these are all talented performers, the audience vote will probably be an even greater factor in the outcome at the finale.
“We’re hoping for a full house of fans cheering on their favorite and helping us decide the winners,” Myers said.
Tickets are being sold in advance. The Center Theatre is planning to run the Central Maine Talent Search again in 2019.
