Mackey Andrews for state senate

To the Editor;
I strongly support Sue Mackey Andrews for Maine Senate District 4. I’ve known and worked with Sue for over 20 years. Her commitment and passion on behalf of families in Piscataquis, Somerset and Penobscot counties are well established.

Sue has a rare combination of intelligence, compassion, and vision with an outstanding work ethic. I have seen her move mountains to improve outcomes for vulnerable infants, young children and their families. Sue understands politics and shows respect with integrity in representing the voices of those she seeks to serve.

Sue listens and is guided responsively and responsibly by the needs of people. She is a knowledge seeker and stays informed of best practices. Whether she is working as a consultant or a trainer, starting a new program or crafting concepts to support Mainers, Sue delivers what is needed to effect opportunities and well being. Sue started The Maine Resilience Building Network addressing how state and community systems can view Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) to remove barriers to health and well being. She understands the developmental process of change while remaining fiscally responsible.

I can think of no one more suited to being in our state government. I have been honored to have Sue Mackey Andrews as a colleague, a friend and a mentor. Her ability to bring people together to forge collaboration is powerful. With a broad range of skills and knowledge, Sue understands the needs of rural Maine. Her concerns for the future and her awareness of the barriers caused by poverty, isolation and trauma have helped her become a solution oriented leader who seeks to make Maine a viable place to grow, bloom and age by developing communities that care.
