Center Theatre Drama Camp accepting registrations

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre recently announced that registration is open for both sessions of the Children’s Summer Drama Camp. The camp, which is the Theatre’s longest running program, brings kids together from across the community for two weeks to work together to produce a one-act play.

The first session of the drama camp begins on Monday, July 23. This session, directed by Bobby Keniston, is for older more experienced actors who will be performing a play written by Keniston for the camp titled “Just Another Bedtime Story.” The second session, starting Friday, Aug. 3 will be directed by David Murray. The second session, for younger, less experienced actors, will work on the play “The March Hare’s Tale.”

Both sessions run daily for two weeks at the East Sangerville Grange with performances scheduled at the Commons Event Center at Central Hall. Registration is $275 per child with discounts for multiple kids per session.

Patrick Myers, the executive director of the Center Theatre, says there are also scholarships available, “We want to make sure the drama camp is available for every child who is interested. So we have solicited donations from many area groups, businesses, and individuals. If you have a child who would benefit from the camp but aren’t sure you can afford it, please contact the Theatre for more information.”
