50 YEARS OF FIREFIGHTING -- Dover-Foxcroft Deputy Fire Chief Patrick “Rick” Pembroke, left, was presented with a plaque by Dover-Foxcroft Town Manager Jack Clukey of behalf of the community during a Feb. 26 selectmen’s meeting in recognition of Pembroke’s half century served as a firefighter. Pembroke began as a junior firefighter in Dover-Foxcroft while a student at Foxcroft Academy in the late 1960s and over the ensuing five decades he has spent time on the fire departments in both Dover-Foxcroft and Monson with 36-plus years as an officer -- including serving as chief in Monson -- between the two towns. Pembroke is a third generation firefighter and he has been a member of the Dover-Foxcroft department for a second stint since 1998. Last fall he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Maine State Federation of Firefighters. Clukey said Pembroke has provided 50 years of service, with more to come.
