Postseason basketball roundup

Feb. 13: Eighth-seeded PCHS defeated No. 9 Madawaska 48-39 in a girls Class C North prelim. The Pirates overcame an 18-7 first-quarter deficit to secure the win over the ninth-seeded Owls. Erin Speed lead the way for PCHS with 22 points, including 11-for 12 from the free-throw line. Olivia Riitano chipped in with 10 points. Brianne Thibeault scored 13 points for Madawaska and Hannah Nadeau and Jenna Dugal put in nine points each.

No. 14 Penquis fell at third seed Narraguagus of Harrington 55-36 in a girls Class C North prelim. Kylee Joyce had a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds to help the Knights advance. Madison Leighton tossed in 10 points with five rebounds and for assists for Narraguagus, while Kirstin Kennedy scored 10 points and had five assists. Camryn Rolfe scored 11 points for Penquis while Sydney Fowles had eight points and Katelyn Bolstridge added seven.

Feb. 17: Top-seeded Greenville manufactured a 16-point first-quarter lead, cruising to a 56-22 Class D South boys basketball quarterfinal victory over No. 8 Rangeley at the Augusta Civic Center. Connor DiAngelo and Devin Boone connected for 14 points each to propel the Lakers. Evan Bjork contributed nine points for Greenville. Kyle Larochelle and Kenny Thompson led the way for Rangeley.
