Returning to the agenda, the secretary’s report was given followed by the treasurer’s report. Ricker also reported on the Piscataquis County Retired Educators Association Esther Pennington Scholarship. It was awarded to Daniel Dickers of Foxcroft Academy, to be presented the second semester of his college year.
The Community Day of Caring report was postponed due to lack of information. Homecoming was brought up and after much discussion members voted to do another picnic basket like last year. Members offered to provide items and hope to have it on display prior to Homecoming. Janice Ellis volunteered to be chairman and get things set up and members volunteered to work. Tickets can be purchased prior to Homecoming by contacting any retired teacher.
Donna Caruso reported that the 45 percent insurance is still intact thanks to Sen. Emily Cain. Gloria Burns spoke about COLA saying association members probably will get a lesser amount than last year.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 23 at the Bear’s Den at 11:30 a.m. Minnie McCormick will present the program Newborns in Need, a federation project she is involved with. The meeting was adjourned.
