Book talk/signing with local author Wednesday at Shaw Public Library

GREENVILLE — The Shaw Public Library will host a book talk and signing with local resident Sandra Neily on her debut novel “Deadly Trespass” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Neily is a national Mystery Writers of America award winner, a national finalist in the Women’s Fiction Writers Association’s “Rising Star” contest and in Maine a finalist in the “Joy of the Pen” fiction competition.

Neily offers readers both entertainment and discovery. “I wrote this book to take people who love Maine (those who know its woods well and those who don’t) on a field trip into a world at risk,” she said. “I wanted to create a story that urged readers on from page to page, so they’d arrive at the last page, feeling like they had pitch on their hands and a clear view of what might be lost.”

Join Neily, the Shaw Public Library’s book club and others as she shares her novel “Deadly Trespass,” and how she and other authors have crafted storytelling around urgent and timely stories that feature the natural world.

A long-time Greenville resident, Neily has been a local business owner, a Maine Guide and whitewater outfitter, the director of the Maine Conservation School and Maine Audubon’s Outreach Coordinator. Neily will read passages from “Deadly Trespass” and share her own list of outdoor based mysteries and thrillers and the issues they illuminate. She hopes guests will bring their favorite out-door fiction to help grow her list.

“Non-fiction discussions of the joys and miseries of environmental challenges are not usually best sellers but mysteries and thrillers (the most popular genre) are,” Neily said. “Often these works are well researched, compelling, and they take readers to landscapes and issues that need attention, but they do it as page-turning entertainment.”

Given reader excitement “Deadly Trespass” is generating (see her Amazon reviews), readers from Maine to Utah appreciate her work to bring to life Maine’s woods and wildlife, a wayward Labrador, the drama of returning wolves, and a middle aged narrator who attracts trouble.

Find “Deadly Trespass” in Greenville at the Corner Shop and Northwoods Outfitters. In Maine find it at all Shermans Books locations; Kindle and paperback versions are on Amazon. View the video trailer at http://bit.ly/2nsvKB0. Learn more at www.authorsandraneily.com.
