Foxcroft Academy cross country runs at conference finals

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys cross country team came in ninth place among a field of nine Class B schools with full squads at the 2017 Penobscot Valley Conference Championship on Oct. 14 at Orono High School. The Ponies scored 247 points at the meet.

Junior Nic Daneman was the first Foxcroft runner to cross the finish line. He covered the 3.1 miles in a time of 21 minutes, 11.50 seconds to place 38th among a field of 62 Class B entrants.

Freshman Barrett Knapp came in 44th with a time of 21:58.09 and in 52nd place was senior Kazu Kawashima at 24:09.25. Rounding out the scoring for Foxcroft was junior Chenbin Yu in 56th place at 26:13.69 and freshman Andrew Marsten was right behind in 57th place at 28:00.03.

Junior Christian Blakely and freshman James Purvis also ran for Foxcroft at the conference finale. Blakely was 58th with a time of 28:01.13 and Purvis came in 61st at 33:17.38.

Three Foxcroft girls ran in the junior varsity race. Freshman Kaylee During finished 25th among 47 entrants with a time of 28:08.73.

Sophomore Leyao Liang placed 30th at 28:36.98 and coming in 38th was freshman Evelyn Marsten in a time of 31:31.21.

Dexter Regional High School freshman Michael Gadwah ran in the boys Class C race. Gadwah came in 49th among 60 entrants with a time of 25:12.54.
