D-F Deputy Chief Pembroke honored for 50 years as a firefighter

A HALF CENTURY AS A FIREFIGHTER — Dover-Foxcroft Deputy Fire Chief Patrick “Rick” Pembroke was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Maine State Federation of Firefighters during the organization’s recent convention in Boothbay Harbor. Pembroke began as junior firefighter in Dover-Foxcroft while a student at Foxcroft Academy and over the ensuing five decades he has spent time on the fire departments in both Dover-Foxcroft and Monson with 36 years as an officer — including serving as chief in Monson — between the two communities. MAINE STATE FEDERATION OF FIREFIGHTERS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD — Dover-Foxcroft Deputy Fire Chief Rick Pembroke, center, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Maine State Federation of Firefighters during the organization’s annual meeting earlier in the month in Boothbay Harbor. Pembroke has been a firefighter for 50 years, since joining the Dover-Foxcroft department as a junior firefighter in the late 1960s. A third generation firefighter, Pembroke would later become chief in Monson and he has been a member of the department in Dover-Foxcroft for a second stint since 1998.
