High school track and field news

The Foxcroft Academy boys finished in second place at a Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) meet held at the team’s home facility on May 12. The Ponies ended with 134 points to come in second of six schools.

Foxcroft had five first-place performances as Evan Chadbourne won the 100 in a time of 11.49 seconds, Matt Storer had the day’s top throws in both the discus and shot put at 120 feet, 4 inches and 48-11, David Salley bested the field in the javelin at 135-07 and Hyatt Smith cleared a height of 10-06 to finish first in the pole vault.

Chandler Dow finished second in both the 110 and 300 hurdles with respective times of 18.21 seconds and 47.27 seconds. Smith came in second in the high jump at 5-04 and Owen Booker did likewise in the pole vault at 8-00. Nick Danso was the meet runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 123-09.

Placing third for the Ponies was Elijah Ames in the 110 hurdles at 19.73 seconds, the 4×100 relay team (Chadbourne, Jonathon Feix, Storer and Salley) at 49.72 seconds, the 4×400 relay (Salley, Youssef El Deib, Jacob Raynes and Ames) at 4:18.46 and Smith in the triple jump at 36-03.50.

Fourth-place performances came from El Deib in the 1,600 at 5:49.23, Ames in the 300 hurdles at 53.38 seconds, Dustin Simmons in the triple jump at 35-06 and Caleb Buerger in the pole vault at 6-00.

Johnny Labree’s throw of 88-01 in the discus was good for fifth place. Feix finished sixth in the 200 at 26.54 seconds, and Storer came in sixth in the javelin at 112-06.

The Dexter Regional High School boys scored 45 points to finish fifth at Foxcroft Academy.

Brandon Allen came in second place in the long jump at a distance of 17-06. The Tiger 4×800 relay (Dillion Allen, Ethan Boutiller, Augustus Irwin and Jacob Hesseltine) was also second, with the four combining for a time of 11:28.81.

Hesseltine placed third in the 400 at 59.41 seconds. Nate Jerome finished third in the 100 at 12.28 seconds.

Coming in fourth in the javelin was Sean Lockhart at 119-11.

Dexter had fifth-place performances from the 4×100 relay (Dillion Allen, Jason Campbell, Caleb Weeks and Anthony Woods) at 52.26 seconds, Dillion Allen in the long jump at 17-01.50 and David Kirshkaln in the shot at 35-09.25

Kirshkaln also came in sixth in the discus at 77-10, and Boutiller finished sixth in the 1,600 at 5:59.76.

In the girls’ meet, host Foxcroft scored 78.50 points to place third out of six schools.

Emily Mikoud had a hand in 36 of her team’s points. Mikoud won the discus at a distance of 123-07, breaking a school record that had stood since 1995 and was previously held by Michelle Merrill Langston.

Mikoud also won the shot at 37-01.50. She came in second in the 100 with a time of 13.48 seconds, and ran the first leg of the second-place 4×100 relay. Mikoud, Emily Sprecher, Sarasofia Stentardo and Olivia Wesley combined for a time of 56.94 seconds.

Wesley was the meet winner in the 800, in a time of 2:42.23.

Jacalyn Pelletier was the triple jump runner-up at 28-10.75. She also came in fifth in the 200 at 30.65 seconds.

Avery Nelson came in third in the javelin at 82-04, and she was also fourth in the discus at 70-03.

Jordan Thomas placed fourth in the 400 at 1:14.88, as did Sprecher in the 800 at 2:52.39. Sprecher was also sixth in the javelin at 63-10.

Foxcroft had a pair of fifth-place finishes as Virginia Macombe was fifth in the 3,200 at 20:20.21 and Stentardo was fifth in the triple jump at 23-11.50.

The Dexter girls compiled 57 points to place fifth at Dover-Foxcroft.

Danielle Cummings had three first-place sprints. She won the 100 in 13.15 seconds and the 200 at 27.66 seconds. Erin Bache, Lily Cummings, Danielle Cummings and Autumn Irwin combined to win the 4×100 relay in 54.61 seconds.

Lily Cummings was third in both the 200 and long jump, 29.68 seconds and 13-09.25, and fourth in the 100 at 13.89 seconds.

Bache came in fourth in the 200 at 30.03 seconds and she was fifth in the javelin at 70-02.

Rebecca Batron finished fourth in the shot at 25-04 and sixth in the event was Nadia Neptune at 24-03.

The Piscataquis Community High School girls came in sixth at Foxcroft Academy with a score of 30 points.

Mya Young was the meet high jump winner as she cleared the bar at 4-06.

Lexi Harris came in second in both hurdle events with a time of 18.77 seconds in the 100 hurdles and 57.72 seconds in the 300 hurdles. Bailey Lemieux was fourth in the 300 hurdles at 1:03.07.

On May 12 the Penquis Valley High School boys came in fourth of four teams during a PVC meet at Cameron Stadium in Bangor with six points.

The Patriots’ David Weymouth was the 1,600 racewalk runner-up in 12:05.68. Forest Law came in fourth in the high jump at 5-00.

The Penquis girls were also fourth of four, picking up nine points in Bangor.

Cymeria Robshaw finished third in the 100 at 13.50 seconds. Kayla Harmon came in third in the javelin at 89-08.

The Patriots’ 4×100 relay was fourth at 57.24 seconds, and Jordan Durant placed fifth in the triple jump at 30-05.

On May 13 Greenville traveled to Aroostook County to take part in the Caribou Invitational. The Laker boys scored 30 points to place seventh among 14 teams.

Greenville had a trio of first-place performances with Devin Boone picking up two in the throwing events. Boone won the shot at 41-02 as well as the discus at a distance of exactly 123 feet.

Ben Baldwin came in first in the 200, with his winning time of 24.92 seconds.
