Foxcroft Academy Booster Club president honored for her service
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy Booster Club members are often busy manning the snack shack at sporting events and cooking menu items and raising funds in a variety of ways to benefit student-athletes and their programs.
These family and friends of current and past students were honored for all their efforts during Foxcroft Academy Sports Booster Appreciation Night on Friday, Sept. 6 as part of the football team’s season opener vs. Belfast Area High School.
APPRECIATING THE BOOSTERS — Foxcroft Academy Booster Club President Jayme Pullyard-Chase, with plaque, was recognized for her efforts during Foxcroft Academy Sports Booster Appreciation Night on Sept. 6 at halftime of the Ponies’ season-opening football game. Pullyard-Chase is the recipient of the James S. Holmes Award, given by the trustees to an outstanding member of the school community who through their service has furthered the mission and goals of Foxcroft Academy.
Long-time Foxcroft Academy Booster Club President Jayme Pullyard-Chase was recognized at halftime for being the recipient of the James S. Holmes Award.— which has not been presented in several years. The honor is given by the trustees to an outstanding member of the “Pony Herd”, who through his or her service has furthered the mission and goals of Foxcroft Academy. Holmes was a young country lawyer in Foxcroft and he is credited with the founding of the school. It was due to his volunteer efforts that Foxcroft Academy exists today.
Pullyard-Chase, a 1999 Foxcroft Academy graduate, was presented with the James S. Holmes Award during a morning ceremony earlier in the day.
Public Address Announcer/Foxcroft Academy Director of External Affairs Toby Nelson told the crowd, “FA thanks the many parents and friends who have helped enrich our student-athlete experience while wearing the maroon and white.”
Nelson said a granite plaque thanking the boosters will be affixed to the snack shack, reading “Foxcroft Academy extends our heartfelt appreciation for all the hours the dedicated FA Boosters Club has committed to supporting all of our co-curricular activities at Foxcroft Academy.”
Funds raised by the group have helped support new basketball and football scoreboards, the purchase of team travel gear, additional sports field fencing, the improvement of game fields, and have helped renew the Pony ice hockey program in addition to many other endeavors.
“When you see them at the snack shack or around the fields, please say ‘thank you,’” Nelson said, reading a list of names of Foxcroft Academy Booster Club members.
“In August of 2024 the Foxcroft Academy Board of Trustees voted unanimously to bestow this award on Jayme Pullyard-Chase, Class of 1999, for her countless hours of service to the Foxcroft Academy Boosters Club as its president,” Nelson said. He said the award description includes, “Your selfless commitment to the program has been influential and lasting to all co curricular activities at Foxcroft Academy.”
“Thank you Jayme for your unwavering dedication and countless hours of service to Foxcroft Academy student-athletes,” Nelson said. “Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thank you to Jayme and thank you to all members of the booster club for all that you do for our Foxcroft Academy student-athletes.”
