DOVER-FOXCROFT — Piscataquis Observer, June 30, 1881 “Terrible murder in Parkman. A deaf mute named Chadbourne hacks to pieces Alvin Watson! Fifty gashes inflicted. The body dragged to the back yard. Horrible disclosures!” Thus happens the first murder in Piscataquis County.
Want to learn more? Come to the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society’s Sept. 9 meeting at 7 p.m. at Central Hall. Enjoy Carlson Williams as he tells of the love triangle, the investigation, the trial, and who likely really “done it.” All are welcome.
