CA Dean Hospital wing dedicated in honor of Allen family
GREENVILLE — Hospital leadership, members of the Allen Family, and guests gathered for a small ceremony on Monday, June 24 to dedicate the Allen Family Wing at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital.
The late Charlotte Allen was a long-time benefactor of CA Dean Hospital. In 2021 the very first gift to the Preserving the Promise Campaign to support the hospital’s modernization was a $250,000 bequest made in her memory. Allen regularly made annual gifts and was consistently an advocate for local healthcare in the community.
Charlotte and her husband Telford raised three boys and two girls in the community. Charlotte left a personal legacy to the region that she loved by supporting several causes in the community, including the hospital where three of her children were born. Telford Allen, III, Charlotte’s eldest grandson, spoke of his grandmother’s appreciation for CA Dean Hospital.

“She really enjoyed the hospital and staff, and she had a sweet spot for the hospital and community as well. She would have loved the new wing. The space is unbelievable, and she would be very proud if she was here today,” he says.
The Allen Family Wing, formerly known as the East Wing, was built in 1983. The interior of the building has been completely renovated and updated to match the technology, comforts, and amenities of the new Buck Family Building. The space contains 10 private inpatient rooms, a dining room for patients, physical and occupational therapy, and more.
“Together, with the Buck Family Building that opened in February, the Allen Family Wing completes our vision for a modern, patient-focused hospital right here in Greenville. The promise to preserve healthcare in our region required more than planning and hard work. It required the support of others, like the Allen Family, who shared in our vision for the future. I believe that Mrs. Allen would be proud of what we’ve built right here in Greenville,” says Marie Vienneau, FACHE, president, CA Dean Hospital.
