Biddeford landlord who murdered 2 tenants dies in prison

CHARLESTON — A man serving a life sentence for killing two Maine teenagers in a landlord-tenant dispute has died in prison.

James Earl Pak, 86, of Biddeford was convicted on two counts of murder in 2016 for killing 19-year-old Derrick Thompson and 18-year-old Alivia Welch. Thompson and Welch were renting a unit from Pak when he fatally shot them in December 2012. 

Pak died just before 5 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at the Mountain View Correctional Facility according to a press statement from the Maine Department of Corrections.
