Middle school track season concludes with Almquist Invitational

OLD TOWN — Outdoor track and field teams from Piscataquis Community Middle School, Ridge View Community School, and SeDoMoCha Middle School concluded the 2024 season with other schools from around the region at the Almquist Middle School Invitational on Monday, May 20 at Old Town High School. More than a dozen local athletes had top 10 performances at the Almquist Invitational.

Nicholas McCorrison of SeDoMoCha finished as the day’s runner-up in the boys 400 meters, covering the lap in a time of 59.55 seconds. He also anchored the 10th place 4×100 relay team as Brayden Hodges, Chase Dyer, Charles Keeton, and McCorrison combined for a time of 55.70 seconds.

SeDoMoCha’s Braidyn Wing came in third in the shot put with a top throw of 32 feet, 7.5 inches.

Hodges placed fifth in the grade 5-6 50-meter dash with a time of 7.77 seconds.

In the high jump, Keeton and Eagles teammate Sam Deertrack were part of a 5-way tie for 10th place as they each cleared the bar at 4-06.

Jemma Bullock of Ridge View was fourth in the 200 with her time of 30.10 seconds. She also came in sixth in the 100 at 14.29 seconds. Bullock ran the second leg of the fifth-place 4×100 relay squad as Asani Miller, Bullock, Krystal Adkins, and Lakiah Lee combined to run the race in 58.47 seconds.

PCMS’ Kylee Farnham had a fifth-place throw in the shot put with her heave of 28-05.75.

Gabriella Zeller of PCMS was ninth in the discus at a distance of 63 feet.

In the 1,600 Emma Knowles of Ridge View placed ninth in 6:40.82.
