SeDoMoCha’s April Student in the Spotlight honorees
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The SeDoMocha School held its April Student in the Spotlight assembly on Monday, April 29. Students in kindergarten through grade 6 were selected and recognized by their teachers for exhibiting accountability in their actions, their interactions with others, and in their learning.
These students are kindergarten: Jolene Herbest, grade 1: Tia Abed-Elnoor, grade 2: Alan Burnes, grade 3: Kori Hite, grade 4: Kyle Healey, elementary unified arts: Connor Wilhelm-French, grade 5: Abigail Nee, and grade 6: Deaclan Gove.

Administration also recognized four teachers. Assistant Principal Cameron Archer introduced four staff nominated by the administration for the month of April for building/fostering community connections and shared that developing strong connections to the community is an essential part of a learner’s holistic growth and development. These connections serve as a bridge between educational experiences and real-world application, offering benefits that extend beyond the walls of a traditional classroom.
Those recognized were David Murray (elementary music/elementary and middle school drama), Jenn Savage (middle school physical education), Joshua Hunnewell (middle school music), and Sarah Della-Ratta (middle school art). Those recognized will each receive their own parking spot in the lot for the next month.
STAFF IN THE SPOTLIGHT — SeDoMoCha Middle School music teacher/band and chorus director Joshua Hunnewell is this month’s top Staff in the Spotlight honoree. He is pictured with seventh-grader Elizabeth Deitz.
Archer then introduced grade 7 student Eliza Deitz who spoke to the audience about one of the nominees, sharing how much he has taught her and inspired her and others over the past several years, before presenting Hunnewell with the overall award for the month of April. In addition to his own parking space, he received a gift certificate from the administration.
