Retired educators news
Eight members of the Piscataquis Region Retired Educators Association recently met at the home of member Rheba Michaud in Dover-Foxcroft. Treasurer, Priscilla Higgins reported on the finances including the $400 award to Sydney Dyson, the recipient of our annual student award.
It was unanimously voted to contribute $100 to the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church “Lending Closet”, a valuable resource to area residents in need of medical equipment. In March $120 in gift cards was presented to the Developmental Pre-School program, serving the needs of the youngest students in our area.
There was no secretary’s report this month.
Michaud shared news of next month’s Retired Educators Convention in Augusta. She is the chair again this year and reports that it will be a rewarding day for all participants.
We are looking ahead to our May 28 meeting at Our FAMBily Restaurant in Dexter with Sue Mackey-Andrews as the guest speaker. We are also responsible for the community dinner on Aug. 19 and are looking for more volunteers and a new menu for this special event.
