Penquis Prevention Council workshops
The Penquis Prevention Council is offering community workshops to help prevent or reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect in our community. These workshops are offered at no cost and are being offered throughout the community.
Abuse and neglect of children are serious problems that not only have an impact on the families and children involved but have an impact on the greater community as well. At one time or another we have all had concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child, being left feeling helpless knowing help is needed but we think it is not our place to get involved or just don’t know what to do.
The Penquis Prevention Council has partnered with local organizations to bring The Front Porch Project to Piscataquis County. The Front Porch Project is a community initiative based on the belief that everyone can and should become more aware of how to support children and families in their community.
We are seeking your help to make Piscataquis County a star community when it comes to the safety and wellbeing of all families and children. Together we can make a difference.
During the workshops, participants will be empowered to feel more confident in offering support to others, explore their personal comfort level in getting involved and providing support.
If you live or work in Piscataquis County the Front Porch Project workshop is for you. Workshops not suitable for children under 15.
You can attend a Front Porch Project workshop in the following locations:
Dover-Foxcroft on Tuesday, Sept. 12 5-7 p.m. at the Thompson Free Public Library, 186 East Main Street.
Monson on Wednesday, Sept. 13 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Monson Public Library, 35 Greenville Road.
Brownville on Tuesday, Sept. 19 5-7 p.m. at the Brownville Free Public Library, 27 Church Street.
Guilford on Friday, Sept. 15 5-7 p.m. at the Guilford Memorial Library, 4 Library Street.
Greenville on Saturday, Sept. 23 9-11 a.m. at Bartley’s Center Cove Events, 241 Pritham Avenue.
Milo on Tuesday, Sept. 26 6-8 p.m. at the town office, 6 Pleasant Street.
