CA Dean celebrates Whitman tournament fundraising success and a hole in one
GREENVILLE — Sixty-four golfers from across the state descended upon the Mount Kineo Golf Course on Moosehead Lake in Rockwood on Aug. 10 for the 2023 Forrest Whitman Memorial Golf Tournament, a major fundraiser to support patients in need and help students reach their educational goals.
The top finishers were the Kineo View Lodge team (first place), the Law Office of Burky & McCarthy team (second place), and the A.E. Robinson team (third place).
The fourth hole erupted in excitement when Gregory Jordan sunk a hole in one. It was the second hole in one for Jordan; he made his first several years ago in Guilford.
Event sponsors included Ware-Butler Building Supply, A.E. Robinson, and Indian Hill Trading Post. CA Dean Hospital also thanks Bill Willard, Marcel and Helene Dutil, Elwood Doran, and the entire Mt. Kineo Golf Club for their continued support and generosity.
The tournament honors former CA Dean board member Forrest G. Whitman, a respected community leader who passed away in 2012. Several members of Whitman’s family participate in the tournament each year, including his son Burton Whitman.
“The tournament supports something good, and we’re proud of that,” says Burton Whitman. “This tournament would be right up his alley because he loved golf, and he loved the area. He also loved the hospital.”
All money raised at the tournament stays local to support patient care at CA Dean and provide scholarships for students at Greenville High School.
The 13th annual Forrest G. Whitman Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024. Registration will open in the spring of 2024. For the latest information about upcoming events at CA Dean Hospital, please visit northernlighthealth.org/CADean.
