Family Fun Day with Thompson Free Library

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Thompson Free Library brings you two great family-friendly activities on Thursday, Aug. 3.

At 10:30 a.m. TFL hosts “Touch a Truck” at SeDoMoCha. Kids can explore a Dover-Foxcroft police car, a Piscataquis County Emergency Management vehicle, a Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department truck, and a concrete mixer from Haley’s Inc.

Later at 6 p.m. TFL’s outdoor pavilion is the setting for the “Modern Pop Art Experience”, a one-of-a-kind interactive program featuring prolific American Pop artist Michael Albert. Michael’s art has evolved from doodles and pen & ink to serious wax oil drawings, to the cubist mosaic cereal box collages he has become known for internationally. He’ll start the 2-hour program by introducing himself, showing examples of his work, and telling the group about the project they are about to do — a hands-on collage workshop. Participants will create their own collages with the same materials he uses to create his own works of art. The evening ends with a free poster giveaway and signing. Michael brings about 20 different prints (which he has self-published in limited quantities) for each participant to choose from as a special gift for coming to the event.  This program is free and open to all ages. Parents are asked to help younger kids in the process.
