Monson Historical Society to be presented Civil War veteran’s musket and bayonet

MONSON — On Saturday, July 15 the family of Civil War veteran Harrison Davis will be presenting the Monson Historical Society with Harrison’s Civil War musket and bayonet. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the new Monson Veterans Memorial located next to the Community Church. In attendance will be the Col. Douty Camp #11 Sons of Union Veterans and the Sarah Elizabeth Palmer Tent #23 as well as members of the Monson Historical Society. The public is cordially invited to attend.

After the ceremony at 11 a.m., the Monson Historical Society is hosting guest speaker Joseph Wax, author of “The Final Mission” — the story behind the crash of the B-52 bomber outside Greenville on Elephant Mountain. The presentation will be held at the Moore Building on Main Street, almost directly across from the Monson Historical Society Museum.
