Foxcroft Academy Key Club gives back

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy Key Club has had another great school year of service, and it’s time for the club to give back to the community it serves. Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

FA Key Club is part of Key Club International, and their mission soundly states: Children: Their Future, Our Focus. Over the past 18 years, that has been its guiding principle.

The FA Key Club’s Festival of Stockings Project saw over 50 businesses, organizations, and individuals participate and help raise over $6,000 to help youth in the four RSU 68 communities attend summer camps.

Pine Tree Society’s mission is to provide Maine children and adults with disabilities the opportunities and the means to create better lives for themselves and their families. The FA Key Club is donating $1,000 to help children from RSU 68 communities attend the Guilford Pine Tree Society Camp.

One of Foxcroft Academy’s core values is compassion, members of the Foxcroft Academy community will exhibit empathetic awareness of others and their needs. We will work together to provide an environment where students and school community members are safe in thought, feeling, and action. The FA Key Club would like to present a gift of $200 to Athletic Director Jaclyn “Ms. T” Tourtelotte  on behalf of Head of School Arnold Shorey to help our students.

We would also like to present to Ms. T a check for $800 to help defray costs to help children attend the sport youth camps held at Foxcroft Academy.

A part of the Center Theatre’s mission is to offer educational opportunities to the people of the Maine Highlands. They offer classes and workshops for youth and adults taught by professionals in their respective industries. The FA Key Club would like to present a check of $1500 to Patrick Myers for the Center Theater to help with scholarships for children to attend Drama Camp.

The Piscataquis Regional YMCA is dedicated to promoting a healthy spirit, mind, and body along with core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility through programs and services for all. The Key Club would like to present a check for $2000 to Andrew Walker, branch director of the Piscataquis Regional YMCA, to help defray costs for children to participate in summer care ($1,000) and summer youth camps ($1,000).

That closes out the school year for the FA Key Club, but summer projects are already underway for the 2023-24 year, and students are ready to be involved. For more information on Key Club International, go to https://www.keyclub.org/.
