D-F Kiwanis Piscataquis River Race results

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft  held its 49th annual Piscataquis River Race on the morning of Saturday, April 22 with paddlers traveling about 8.5 miles from Guilford to Dover-Foxcroft.

This year’s event featured 50 boats and 84 racers. There were 17 separate classes of kayaks and canoes with entrants in three different categories — racing, recreational, and challenge.

The Bob Darling Memorial Trophy was awarded to the fastest kayak and the fastest canoe                   in memory of a past Kiwanis president and past chairperson of the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Piscataquis River Race.

The fastest kayak was Hank Thorburn and Ben Randall with a time of 49 minutes, 18 seconds.

The fastest canoe was paddled by James and Ashton Mabee, Ralph and River Robertson, and Joshua and Ronald Harvey in 50:18.

Class 5 racing two-person open canoe, short OC-2: 1. Robert Martin, Raven Berry 1:04:47.

Class 6 racing two-person open canoe, medium OC-2: 1. Bill Anderson, Rick Gaise 55:24; 2. Clayton Cole, Linda Basilicato 57:01; 3. Glen D Widmer, Rad Mayfield 1:05:13.
