Northern Light Internal Medicine, Dexter welcomes Dr. Sardina, expands access to care

Northern Light Mayo Hospital is pleased to welcome family medicine physician Joseph Sardina, MD, to its Northern Light Internal Medicine, Dexter practice. The addition of Dr. Sardina to the team of Robert Lodato, MD, and Lori Towne, FNP, expands access to care for residents of Dexter and the surrounding area.

While Dr. Sardina grew up in Boston, he has spent his entire 30-year career in the Pine Tree State working at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, most recently in the hospital’s Walk-In Care clinic.

In his new role in Dexter, Dr. Sardina will focus on same-day appointments and follow-up care, including working with patients who need to be seen after hospital stays.

Dr. Sardina

Dr. Sardina values both clinical skill and the ability to be an active and willing listener.

“Every person’s situation is unique, even if their symptoms are similar to someone else’s,” he says. “My approach is to first, do no harm. Then, actively listen, and don’t rush into any premature judgment. That’s what patients should expect.”

Mainers at heart, Dr. Sardina and his wife Charlotte have raised three children in the Bangor area. Outside of work, he enjoys genealogy, cycling, cooking, and cross country skiing.

“I consider myself to be adopted by Maine, and I promise not to give out the secret,” he says. “Maine is a very special place. It’s a great place to be because of the quality of life.”
