Three from region mush in Can-AM Crown International Sled Dog Races

FORT KENT – Three mushers and their teams took part in the annual Can-AM Crown International Sled Dog Races on March 4-5 in northern Aroostook County for New England’s longest sled dog race.

Ashley Patterson of Shirley came in ninth among a field of 14 entrants in the Irving Woodlands Can-Am Crown 250. Patterson and her dog sled team finished in 34 hours, 14 minutes, and 28 seconds.

Patteson’s husband Mark raced in the Willard Jalbert Jr. Can-Am 100. His team was 13th among 23 entrants in 12 hours, 14 minutes.

Julia Klaucke of Medford placed 18th among 21 teams in the Pepsi/Native Dog Food Can-Am 30 with a time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, 13 seconds.
