GFWC Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC MIOSAC Club met on Feb. 7 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church with President Minnie McCormick presiding. She asked who wore their pins and brought their GFWC booklets.

Member Vicki Moschella led with the reciting of the Club Collect, Pledge of Allegiance, and the American’s Creed.

Secretary Diane Leighton did roll call. There were 11 members present. She then did the secretary’s report. No corrections and reports will be filed.

Treasurer Suzanne Raymond was called upon to do the treasurer’s report. No corrections, and the report will be filed for audit.

Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin read a thank you from the local Girl Scouts for the club donation.

Advisory Committee Chair Brenda Quiet asked for a volunteer to have the meeting on Feb. 21 at one of the member’s homes as the church will be having a meeting that evening. Rheba Michaud volunteered.

Raymond will have a “trunk show” displaying her quilts. Hostesses will be Anne Cress and Moschella. Also Cress will have the meeting regularly scheduled with GFWC MAINE President Maureenl Provencal on April 18.

Lookout Chair Vicie Parsons expressed concern about a member who will soon be having foot surgery.

Publicity Chair Moschella said meeting news should appear this following Friday in the Piscataquis Observer.

No old business at this time.

New Business: McCormick announced MAINE Environment Chair Deb Burnham has requested we save our soda can tabs and any corks to be saved for recycling for money to go to the Ronald McDonald House.

McCormick invited members to come to a tea party on Feb. 15 at her home.

The GFWC MAINE Art Contest winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 29 at a time and location to be announced.

Meeting was adjourned and Program Chair Parsons started the Valentine card making instructions. Members had been asked to bring card stock, scissors, glue sticks, markers, stickers, etc. to make cards for two nursing homes in Dover-Foxcroft.

The food and snacks were served by Hostess Roxy McGlauflin and Clara Lucier.
