Tiger wrestling places third at Class B championship
HOWLAND – The Dexter Regional High School wrestling team scored 126 points to place third among a field of 17 teams at the 2023 Class B North championship on Saturday at Penobscot Valley High School.
Three Dexter grapplers finished in second place in their respective weight classes: Timothy Milliken at 120 pounds, Domiair Miller at 132, and Caleb Schobel at 182.
Garrett Tibbitts and Gage Beaudry both came in third by winning in the consolation finals, at 113 and 170 pounds respectively.
Placing fourth for Dexter was Noah Woodruff at 126, Darshaun Dyer at 152, and Alex Race at 195.
Piscataquis Community High School came in fifth with 104 points. Three Pirates won their weight classes.
In the 145-pound championship match, Dominic Zeller earned a 7-0 victory over Brian Lemar of Belfast Area High School.
Alex Zellar earned top honors at 152 pounds with a 17-3 win over Old Town High School’s Sam Charles in the finals.
Beau Talbot became the 285-pound champion with a pinfall victory over Mt. View High School of Thorndike’s Riley Bryant.
Dominic Cookson reached the finals in the 170 division for PCHS.
Foxcroft Academy came in eighth over the weekend with 62 points.
Nathan Durgin and Skylar Gibbs both won in the consolation finals to come in third at 120 and 160 pounds respectively.
Hayden Hanson and Tanyon Gibbs each came in fourth place, in the 132- and 145-pound classes respectively.

The teams will take to the mats next on Saturday at the Class B championship at Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln.
