Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomes first baby of the new year

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomed a special delivery on Tuesday, Jan. 3, the first baby born in Piscataquis County in 2023.

Skylah Britton was born at 9:14 a.m. to Katie Woodworth and Shane Britton of St. Albans. Skylah weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces at birth. She has two older siblings.

“It’s exciting to have the area’s first baby born in 2023,” says Katie. “I was due on Jan. 15, but she was ready to come out a little early.”

FIRST BABY OF 2023 — Skylah Britton, being held by her mother Katie Woodworth of St. Albans, is the first baby born in Piscataquis County in the new year. Skylah was born at 9:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

“The Mayo Hospital team welcomes Skylah into the world and congratulates Katie and Shane on her arrival,” says Marie Vienneau, FACHE, president, Northern Light Mayo Hospital. “We wish them a healthy and happy year ahead, and we look forward to celebrating many more new arrivals in 2023.”

Northern Light Mayo Hospital staff presented Katie, Shane, and Skylah with a special basket to celebrate the occasion. Mayo Hospital thanks Edwards Brothers Supermarkets for contributing to the basket.
