Destination Moosehead Lake hosts ‘Deck the Halls’ holiday celebration

GREENVILLE — Come to the Moosehead Lake Region to kick off the holiday season.

On Saturday, Nov. 26, Deck the Halls a month-long celebration of the holiday season begins. It will feature #ShopLocal promotions, the opportunity to snap pictures with Santa and write him letters, the Lights of Life Christmas Tree Lighting, Deck the Halls Parade, and the Christmas Decor Contest.

New to this year’s lineup of events is the Moosehead Holiday Market which will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greenville Consolidated School on Saturday. The market will be made up of 20-plus vendors selling everything from wreaths to maple syrup/sugar products. There will be something for everyone on your holiday shopping list. The new market was made possible by the vendors and sponsors Trailside Restaurant at Leisure Life Resort and Northern Maine Minerals.

The parade lineup will begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Greenville Junction Industrial Park. At 4 p.m. the parade kicks off and winds its way through Greenville Junction to Greenville, where it stops in front of the Town Christmas Tree, which this year will be located near the Greenville Union Church. Santa himself will be making an appearance!

At the end of the parade, the Lights of Life Christmas Tree Lighting will take place. The tree lighting is done by Northern Light C.A. Dean. Members of the community are asked to gather to watch as members of the hospital and Santa light the tree for the holiday season.

Also lighting up Greenville’s streets are handmade wreaths made by North Pointe Farm & Garden in Shirley, which are sponsored by our local businesses and organizations. This time-honored tradition gives Greenville and the Moosehead Lake Region, a true home for the holidays feeling. This year there will also be new banners being hung to decorate the Greenville streets. Special thanks are given to the Town of Greenville for making these new decorations happen for the community.

In addition to the wreath sponsors, we also need to thank The Lodge at Moosehead Lake, Blair Hill Inn, and Northern Light C.A. Dean for being the Deck the Halls Event Sponsors. Their generous donations help us be able to organize and host this wonderful event for our community.

Back this year is the Holiday Homes & Inns Tour on Saturday, Dec. 10. The properties being featured this year are The Lodge at Moosehead Lake, The Greenville Inn, and The Neff Residence. We also will have a drive-thru outside viewing only stop at The LoConte Residence. The holiday tour is open to the public.

This event was also made possible by generous sponsors Bangor Savings Bank, Indian Hill Trading Post, Dockside Inn & Tavern, and Lakeside. The cost of the tour is $15/per person, and tickets are required for entry.  Tickets may be purchased in advance at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/deck-the-halls-holiday-homes-inns-tour-tickets-465902566117 or by calling 207-695-2702
