Three first-half goals helps PCHS earn Homecoming victory over Lee
GUILFORD — The Piscataquis Community High School girls had much to celebrate during the team’s 2022 Homecoming game vs. Class D North Lee Academy during the early evening of Saturday, Oct. 1. The Pirates scored three goals in the first half and held the Pandas to only two shots on goal to earn a 3-1 victory.
PCHS is now 3-4-1 on the season, having gone 3-1-1 in the team’s last five games. Lee fell to 0-8 with the defeat.

Each Pirate goal was unassisted with Molly Sipple getting the scoring started. Sipple dribbled up the middle of the Panda side of the field and got a shot off on the run that found the mark for a 1-0 lead at the 27:54-mark.
Later in the opening half Kendall Kimball booted the ball at the Lee goal from outside the box. Kimball’s high shot snuck inside the top of the goal out of the reach of Panda keeper Harmony Vermazoni for goal No. 2 at the 8:22-mark. Vermazoni finished the contest with 21 saves on 37 shots.
TWO-GOAL GAME — Kendall Kimball settles the ball on Saturday. She scored a pair of goals in the final 8:30 of the first half to help PCHS top Lee Academy 3-1.
Despite only having two shots on goal all game, Lee made one count as Stella Martin put her team on the scoreboard with 2:48 remaining in the first half to make the game 2-1.
PCHS quickly got its 2-goal lead back. Kimball’s shot from the left of the goal found the inside netting for a 3-1 advantage with 42.9 seconds before half. All three Pirate goals would end up being unassisted with Kimball picking up two in under seven minutes.
ON HER WAY TO THE GOAL — Molly Sipple would put the Pirates on the scoreboard with a goal just over 12 minutes into play.
The lights came on for the second half just before 6 o’clock but the score remained as it was from the first half.
Lauren Robinson made one stop in goal for the Pirates.
SHOULDER TO SHOULDER — Abbey Ricker fights for positioning during the 2022 Homecoming game on Oct. 1 vs. Lee Academy. The host Pirates won to move to 3-1-1 in the team’s last five games.
The two teams are scheduled to play again in Lee at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13.
