$6.5M Dover-Foxcroft budget to be brought to April 23 town meeting

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Dover-Foxcroft residents will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, in the Morton Avenue Municipal Building gymnasium for the 2022 annual town meeting.

That morning, attendees will vote on articles making up the town meeting warrant — which still is to be approved by the selectboard — together equaling a proposed 2022-23 municipal budget totaling $6,540,025. This figure is up by $437,515 (7.17 percent) from the current fiscal year’s $6.1 million-plus figure.

After applying $3,623,020 in non-tax revenues, the net amount to be raised via property taxes is $2,917,005. The $3.6 million revenue figure is up by $282,222 (8.45 percent) from 2021-22, and the net amount to be raised represents a $155,293 increase (5.62 percent) compared to the current figure.

“The process continues from today. We have a town meeting in the gym on the fourth Saturday of April, April 23,” Town Manager Jack Clukey said during a public hearing held by the Dover-Foxcroft Selectboard and Budget Advisory Committee on Tuesday evening at the town office.

“After that town meeting in the gym the process still continues,” Clukey said. “The final budget to be approved goes to referendum in June.”

The public hearing concluded a series of budget advisory committee meetings, with the group and selectmen meeting together the week before.

“This budget has been really examined and everyone has been heard,” Select Vice Chairperson Cindy Freeman Cyr said. “It seems like a lot of good work has been done on behalf of the town.”

Clukey said he wanted to thank those who have worked to develop the 2022-23 spending plan. He said the budget advisory committee met throughout March, and the selectboard subcommittees began meeting in January.
