Foxcroft Academy offers Horizon Scholarships to underclassmen as well as SeDoMoCha eighth-graders

DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Horizon Scholarships were established by the Trustees of Foxcroft Academy in an attempt to expand academic opportunities and enhance the personal and academic growth of Foxcroft Academy underclassmen, as well as eighth-graders. Approximately $6,000 is available to be awarded each year, with a maximum award of $1,700.

The Horizon Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for academic experiences, including experiential learning, which are not presently offered at Foxcroft Academy. Programs such as music camps, student leadership programs, a Unity College warden program, summer programs at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, as well as week-long summer college experiences are just some examples of opportunities available to students. Horizon Scholarships are intended for summer experiences; however, consideration will be given to special programs offered during the school year.

Applications are available from Mrs. Hutchinson in the main office at the Academy or Ms. Reece, school counselor at SeDoMoCha, or can be downloaded from the FA website. The application deadline for this year is Friday, March 25.

Upon completion of the program attended, scholarship recipients will be required to share their experiences with the FA community. Within one month of returning, recipients will submit for publication, a short essay and at least one picture of him/herself at their particular program.

Recipients may also be asked to speak in assembly regarding their experience. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants after careful review of the application, essay, and references. Financial need will be considered but this scholarship is not a needs-based one.
