GFWC/Miosac Club meets

DOVER-FOXCROFT –  The GFWC/Miosac Club met Feb. 15 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. President Suzanne Raymond called the meeting to order. Anne Cress led the Club Collect, American’s Creed, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Nine members responded by naming the high school they graduated from. Secretary Diane Leighton read the minutes of the last meeting with no corrections. Anne Cress gave the treasurer’s report. There was no correspondence.

Advisory member Brenda Quiet noted the next meeting will be a Pond Party. Members are asked to bring an object weighing a pound, attractively wrapped. Members will bid on the items – the highest bidder is the winner!

The lookout chairman reported she had contacted two ailing members. She also commented on the crafting day held at her house. She re-stated the invitation.

Raymond announced Nominating Chairman Anne Cress had successfully filled the roster for the years 2022-24 – President  Minnie McCormick, Vice President Wendy Hutchins, Recording Secretary Diane Leighton, Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin, and Treasurer Cress. Other committees remain the same. Installation will take place at the birthday dinner in May.

Raymond noted the District Art Show will be in Newport. The Scrapbook Contest will be held as usual. Members are asked to bring deodorant  at the next meeting for our community project.

With no further business, Raymond asked Program Chairman Cathie Goodine to proceed. Members were asked to bring a poem to read. Most were not originals, but a few were. We enjoyed them. Then on to refreshments McCormick and Brenda Quiet had prepared. Members enjoyed it and took time to visit.

Due to the church being used for a special night, the March 1 meeting will be held at McCormick’s home. Betsey Ryan and Hutchins  are hostess and co-hostess. McGlauflin is program chairman.
