Piscataquis County United Bikers of Maine programs help the community
The Piscataquis County United Bikers of Maine have had a busy year for 2021. Thankfully, they were able to do a couple of their charity rides, one for the Biker Down fund and one for cancer.
The group raised enough money from the cancer ride, to be able to purchase 20 $100 gas cards, which they donated to the two local hospitals to be given to patients traveling for treatment.
Piscataquis County United Bikers of Maine held a November calendar raffle that was a huge success. Thank you to Puritan Medical for donating $1,000 to get the raffle started, that money was used for prizes. Other companies donating to the raffle were A. E. Robinson, Dover True Value, KC’s, Vail’s Custom Cakes, Charlie’s, Advance Auto Parts, Dunkin Donuts, Moosehead Trail Home & Hearth, Pat’s Pizza, Jameson’s, Herring Brothers, The Bear’s Den, Community Fitness, and Northern Reflections.
Several members also donated items to be raffled. The raffle raised $3,700. Those monies were divided among several charities. Five hundred dollars was used to support a backpack program for homeless and hospice veterans, organized by Matthew Smith. Fifteen hundred dollars was used to purchase hats, gloves, mittens, and other items for the five local elementary schools.
Five hundred dollars was used to support seven children selected from an Angel Tree, being sponsored by Modern Image Hair Salon. Eight hundred dollars was donated to two local families who lost their homes to fire just before Christmas.
Thank you to the members who collected prizes, printed and sold the calendars, and delivered items to the winners. Also thank you to the members who purchased items for the backpack program, the schools, and the Angel Tree. Those items were sorted, wrapped, and delivered by a couple of members. Piscataquis County United Bikers of Maine would like to thank everyone who has supported them in their endeavors this year.
