Doctors Without Borders author book event

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Sunday, Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. Central Hall Commons will be hosting a meet the author event under the tent at the Thompson Free Library. “In Therese’s Dream – Maine to Darfur: A Doctor’s Story,” Dr.  David Austin chronicles his time with Doctors Without Borders,  illustrating the common humanity of peoples around the world. Dr. Austin began his medical practice in the 1980s and in the early 2000s began making missionary trips. He joined Doctors Without Borders/ Medecins Sans Frontieres in 2008.

Erica, a non-medical MSF volunteer had this to share on goodreads.com, “This collection of reports (emails) is a good window on work life in an MSF mission for someone who has not worked in this setting providing medical aid to the most disenfranchised populations. … I greatly appreciated the focus on work which in the end is why we all volunteer for MSF.”

Central Hall Commons  nurtures a welcoming, inclusive, healthy, rural community culture by engaging people and organizations in the Maine Highlands region in connecting, celebrating, and learning together.
