New D-F Vision Care of Maine grand opening July 21

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Vision Care of Maine, serving communities in over 10 locations throughout Maine, will hold a grand opening and Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for a new, larger Dover-Foxcroft location. Current patients know that Vision Care has been in Dover-Foxcroft since 2005. The former office shared a small parking lot with Dover Audiology which severely limited the volume of patients that could be seen. In spite of that, the practice grew notably over the past 12 months, enabling management to employ a local optometrist to work three days per week in Dover-Foxcroft exclusively. Unfortunately, the parking situation often led to a provider with downtime, and it became more obvious moving the office to a new location was inevitable.

“We began to scout the area for new space, but really wanted to stay in the Dover-Foxcroft area,” said Cristy Hewitt, director of operations, “and we were lucky enough to find space a mile down the road!”

Renovations began in April and the office will be fully operational this month. The office’s two providers; Dr. Luke Gamble, who has been with Vision Care and has worked in the Dover-Foxcroft location in some capacity since 2012, and Dr. Benes, who has been with Vision Care since 2017, working in the Bangor location and other northern Maine offices, are excited to serve the local communities and look forward to meeting patients.

The new location at 1012 West Main is situated beside the Dollar Tree and offers ample parking, however this is only one of the new major benefits patients will experience. Inside its doors, the new location will offer a full-scale optical shop with designer eyewear and safety glasses for all sports. Parents will be delighted to find a great variety of frames for children and young adults.

“We also hope to work with the school departments to assist children with eye needs as identified by the school nurses,” said Hewitt. Vision Care is committed to offering affordable packages for all income levels, and nearly all insurances are accepted (call to confirm).

Optometric eye care will be offered three to four days per week, to start and cornea specialist Dr. Julie Goldman will be seeing patients on a monthly basis, also performing surgical procedures at the Bangor surgery center.  Appointments are scheduled by calling 207-945-6200, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The grand opening of the new Dover-Foxcroft Vision Care location is Wednesday, July 21 from 4-6 p.m. The Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Door prizes include Vision Care merch and local gift cards. Anyone who schedules an appointment during the grand opening will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 gift certificate to Vision Care to be used for any service and/or retail purchase in the optical shop.
