Dexter team finishes second at Thomas Cup

DEXTER — The sixth annual Thomas Cup went virtual this year with the Thomas Cup in a Box! Dexter Regional High School had one team of veterans of previous Thomas Cup competitions participate.

They competed on Jan. 29-30 against more than 50 teams from around the state. The events included robotics, crime scene investigation, coding, innovation and an Esports competition. Teams of students worked virtually to successfully complete the challenges and earn points.

The Dexter team placed second overall, but was just a fourth of a point behind the first place team, The Maine School of Science and Mathematics — a science and technology magnet school in Limestone. This close finish and hard work earned our students $10,000 scholarships to Thomas College and bragging rights for their competitiveness against schools from all around the state. We are so proud of them and know they will be an inspiration to others. Congratulations Jylian Lupo, Miles Gadwah, Josh Mann and Ethan Lopez!
