Foxcroft girls swimming finishes eighth at PVC championship

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy girls swim team members swam in the home pool at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA with times compiled along with those from other schools across the region via a virtual meet to determine the 2021 Penobscot Valley Conference championship.

The Ponies earned a score of 52 points, placing eighth among a field of 10 schools. Foxcroft was ahead of the 14 points for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and 13 for Searsport District High School.

Maria Morales led Foxcroft with a pair of individual fifth-place finishes. Morales came in fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.37 seconds and she was also fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.30. She also began the Foxcroft 200 medley relay as Morales, Olivia McCorrison, Laney Reardon and Abby Kemp combined for a time of 2:22.13 to come in sixth.

Foxcroft’s 200 freestyle relay, comprised of Reardon, Izabelle Pizzo, Sofi Sopuchova and Dylan Coy, was eighth at 2:17.65. 

In the 100 butterfly Reardon placed 10th at 1:19.46 and Abby Kemp came in 12th in a time of 1:35.38.
