PUFF program helps participants attain health goals
GUILFORD — Friends of Community Fitness offered an eight-week Partnering Up For Fitness (PUFF) program during the months of January and February. Between the five participants and their instructor Beth Weatherbee they lost 39.5 pounds.
Each person came up with a Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based (SMART) goal and tracked this goal each week. They also were assigned a partner that they corresponded with each week sending sweaty selfies, giving positive encouragement and sharing healthy recipes. A weekly health and/or nutrition article was also shared and discussed.
Weight loss was only one of the benefits to the PUFF program. Each member was asked to share how PUFF had changed their lives and/or thought process, here are some of their testimonials:
“I feel more confident in myself, going to the gym and working out.”
“I loved the friendly and upbeat atmosphere the PUFF program provided, there was not judgement, only positive encouragement and reinforcements.”
“My classmates and partner were amazing, encouraging and the instructor was motivational.”
“I proved to myself that I could get back into a workout rhythm after just having a baby.”
“I felt the group held me accountable through praise and encouragement.”
“I believe in myself and that I am worth the time, energy and effort it takes to live a healthy lifestyle.”
