Response to recent letters
To the Editor;
It was entertaining to read the recent letters from local Democrats directed at Piscataquis County Republicans.
One letter contained incorrect information about me that was shared by a Dover-Foxcroft selectman with another Democrat. No effort was made by that selectman to ascertain whether plans had changed before ratting me out, a pattern that has become all too common with some of the Dover-Foxcroft selectmen.
Another letter called for unity and putting our differences aside after accusing Republicans of lying and effectively told us to sit down and shut up in the name of “true patriotism” and made the outrageous claim that suddenly, one political party remains as the sole defender of the Constitution.
The third letter reverted back to what we have come to expect from local Piscataquis Democrats: rage crying, sanctimonious holier-than-thou lectures, sweeping condemnations, accusations of ignorance, and name calling.
Unfortunately, all of these actions by local Democrats are what we have come to expect: They are trying every tactic in the book to gain our compliance and consent. After all that they have done, why should we now trust that they are negotiating in good faith? After every false attack, overt support for censorship, and insult, why should we assume that now they are willing to work with us in good faith?
If Democrats would like to make a good-faith effort at compromise and “coming together,” perhaps the first thing they should do is agree that any new gun control on the state or federal level is unacceptable.
After that, we look forward to their condemnation of big tech/media censorship, a full investigation of Hunter Biden’s overseas dealings and their full, unflinching support for a forensic audit of the entire 2020 Presidential election results to verify that all results were completely accurate. If everything was legitimate, what’s the harm in verification?
