Sen. Davis appointed lead Republican on the Appropriations Committee

AUGUSTA — Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville has been appointed as the lead Senate Republican on the powerful Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. Among the challenges before this committee will be finding a way to bridge a $1.5 billion gap in the state budget.

Prior to running for the Legislature, Davis spent 23 years as a Maine State Trooper, serving primarily in Piscataquis County. He also served six years in the Army National Guard. A member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Board of Directors, he is an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler.

Davis served four terms in the Maine State Senate, serving in leadership during three of those terms, and three terms in the Maine House of Representatives. He returned to the Senate in 2016.

In November Davis was reelected to serve his third term as Senator in District 4 which includes all of the towns in Piscataquis County as well as Alton, Bradford, Charleston, Dexter, Garland, Lagrange, Athens, Brighton Plantation, Cambridge, Detroit, Harmony, Hartland, Palmyra, Ripley and St. Albans.
