Time for men to grow up

To Editor;

I put on the news and they had a father who was talking about his 2-year-old son that was killed by gunfire and he said “I will never hear him say Daddy anymore and now I have to put my son in the ground.” In New York City a 5-month- and 1-year-old were killed by gunfire and Black pastors called for a meeting, to find out what can be done to stop all this killing. The pastors found out, no fathers in many of the homes and one reason is men are not faithful in their marriage.

Men must grow up and walk away, I did. As I look back when I was working nights 3:30-12 at Fay & Scott in Dexter, a man called and said a father and son want to see you about hunting Saturday — you met them last year and they are at the Dexter Motor Lodge.

I walk in at 7:45, stop at their table, told the father I have to work Saturday and I have to get back to work. The father asked what time do you get out of work? I told him 12, he said to come back and “you can do the math, my son and I are there and three women.”

I said no. As I was walking away the father yelled, “What kind of a man are you?” I yelled back, “I am the kind of man that goes home to his wife and children.”

A few days later my wife said “I heard what you did at The Dexter Motor Lodge and am very proud of you.” I said, “I love you and the children too much to go back and do a dumb thing like that.”

I think men must grow up and not worry what other men may think of you, your family will be better off.
