Sweet is the first choice
To the Editor;
Betsy Sweet is my first choice as the Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate race because she will fight for universal healthcare, for climate change solutions and for good Maine jobs for a green, sustainable 21st century. Betsy has decades of experience advocating in the Legislature for the needs of all Mainers. She helped write and pass the first Family Medical Leave Act in the country in 1986, served as executive director of the Maine Women’s Lobby, served as Commissioner for Women under Govs. Brennan and McKernan and co-founded the Maine Center for Economic Policy. I especially like that Betsy helped create the first Clean Elections system in the country here in Maine in 1996. In this race, she has pledged to refuse all corporate PAC and dark money contributions, opting instead to rely on a growing network of small-dollar donors.
Betsy is an authentic, grassroots progressive, who puts the interests of Mainers first. On July 14, I will rank Betsy No. 1 for the Democratic candidate for U. S. Senate.
