Socially distant, services continue in Dover-Foxcroft

To the Editor;

Town buildings and certain facilities remain closed due to COVID-19 but the town’s work carries on.  Our first responders, police and fire are at the ready to answer the call day or night to make sure our community is safe.  The town’s road crew is busy with road work and preparing for summer paving.  If you’re still seeing broken trees or limbs affecting your commute, let us know.

Town boards and committees have resumed their meetings via Zoom teleconference. Meeting times and participation information are posted on the town website at dover-foxcroft.org.  Business at the town office continues. Tax and sewer payments can be done online just visit our website.  Motor vehicle re-registrations can be done online and burn permits can be obtained online as well. Need to register to vote or get a transfer station permit?  Give us a call and we’ll do this by mail or you can use our drop box at the front entrance at the municipal building.  Call us if you need to apply for general assistance. We are able to do this over the phone at 207-564-3318.  If you have a question or concern please contact us.

Dover-Foxcroft, like all of Maine has been through a lot over the past six weeks. Our businesses have made some big changes in response to COVID-19. Our businesses are to be applauded for doing business in new ways in order to keep us all safe. Residents are doing their part by keeping safe distances to discourage the spread of the virus. There are countless volunteers ready and able to assist those who may need help with day to day activities as they remain in their homes. Neighbors are checking in on neighbors.

The more difficult the challenge, the more determined we are to persevere. We encourage everyone to be safe, but at the same time don’t let a little distance get in the way of getting the services you need. Pick up the phone and reach out, or check in. The work of the community continues. We will all continue to meet the challenge.
